Engine optimisation with eddy current sensors

Eddy current sensors from Micro-Epsilon are being used to test internal combustion engines. In towing and firing mode operations, the sensors record different measured values, which can contribute to the improvement of engine characteristics. The high measurement accuracies under extreme engine operating conditions distinguish the eddyNCDT eddy current sensors from competing sensors.



Gap and alignment measurements on car bodies

The new gapCONTROL 2911-25 and 2611-15 laser profile sensors stand out due to their compact design, flexible installation options and versatile communications interfaces. In automotive applications the sensors are predestined for the measurement of gap width and the alignment of the car body panels. Special algorithms are used to enable measurements on any car colour.



Turbocharger speed sensor: compact and fail-safe

Restricted space, interfering fields and large temperature differences are demanding environmental conditions in the motor development. turboSPEED DZ140 is the third generation of revolution-counting sensors for turbochargers based on the eddy current principle. The latest device generation is more compact, temperature resistant and fail-safe than ever.



Colour comparison between parking sensor and bodyshell

For assembly in automotive production, the colorSENSOR LT-2-DU sensor compares the colour of different add-on parts, such as parking sensor and rear bumpers. The colours do not have to be taught to the sensor; the only requirement is to define the colour difference between the two colour channels.



Tribological examinations of brake discs

Modern brake discs and brake pads are made from a variety of materials. When examining the wear and deformation of brake discs, the varying surface structures pose a challenge to optical measurement methods. The optoNCDT 2300 laser triangulation displacement sensor is used to reliably capture the topography of brake discs.
